Tuan Nguyen joined Gameloft Saigon in 2008, and the years have just flown by for him.
He loves challenges and learning new things and it shows: he's worked as a tester, producer, and is now the operations manager of the Web Factory.
Find out more about his position and what makes him stay at Gameloft below!
Hi, Tuan! Tell us about yourself.
I’ve been working at Gameloft for more than 12 years. I started my career at Gameloft in the QA department before becoming a game producer. Then I worked as the QA studio manager before joining the Web Factory a year ago. I joined the Web Factory as an account manager, but I was recently promoted to operations manager!
Many people have asked me how I've been able to stay at Gameloft for such a long time. And my answer is that I didn’t even realize myself that I’ve stayed for so long until I received a gift from the Saigon studio for my 12 years at Gameloft.
I really like challenges and learning new things, and I'm lucky to be able to work with many talented people and on many exciting projects. I believe that has been the key factor in helping me keep my passion and motivation alive after all these years.
What is your role, and what do you enjoy most about your job?
As the operations manager at the Web Factory, my key role is to enhance the collaboration between our talented team members with different expertise and different perspectives to bring the best-in-class services and products to all our clients.
The most exciting part of my job is that I always have the chance to work with many creative ideas from my team and from our clients. And the most rewarding part is when we see our product become a part of successful projects.
What are some of your most memorable moments at Gameloft?
It’s so hard to pick the most memorable moments as I’ve had so many throughout my 12 years at Gameloft. But I would pick the most recent memorable moment I had with the Web Factory team, which was our first team party to welcome our colleagues from the Philippines.
At that time, we were a new team with many new members and we hadn't had much time to get to know each other well. We came from different countries and spoke different languages, but we still really had a great time together.
What advice do you have for people who want to work in gaming in a similar role?
Of course, as in any other roles, there are many factors that affect success. You need a good understanding of your products and services. As we are working in a competitive and exploding industry, you also need to keep yourself updated with the new trends and technologies.
However, I think the most important advice I have is to really focus on your people. I see every member of my team as the missing piece needed to complete a puzzle. That's why I always try to build a working environment that can enhance the team's connection and to support them so they can reach their full potential.
We have multiple positions available at Gameloft Saigon and in our other studios around the world, and you can find all of them here. Stay tuned next week for another edition of Humans Behind the Game!
