Teo Pacuraru, our global community manager, has a lot of experience in moderating communities like Asphalt 9: Legends, Minion Rush, and Disney Getaway Blast.

Our digital media expert loves "interacting with such an interesting and diverse community" and strives to foster meaningful relationships with our players.

Find out more about Teo and exactly how he does this below!

Hi, Teo! Tell us about yourself.

I’ve been at Gameloft for almost two years, starting as a community moderator and more recently becoming the global community manager.

I studied media, then more specifically digital media at university, but I wasn’t looking to get into the gaming industry in particular as I had never had the means to get into games too much, but that’s obviously changed since then.

I actually bought a PS4 with my first paycheck! Working here has taught me a lot about gaming and tech, both directly and indirectly, which I’m very happy about.

What is your role, and what do you enjoy most about your job?

I’ve just started as the global community manager—managing the global Gameloft social channels, working on the social media strategy, and building up engagement with our community.

I love the fact that I’m now interacting with such an interesting and diverse community; there’s players from all of our games, both current and old titles. Some people are still asking about old Java games I remember playing as a kid on other people’s phones! I hope to now create a great relationship between us and these players and content that caters to this diverse audience.

What are some of your most memorable moments at Gameloft?

I don’t think I can pick out a particular moment. What’s been the most memorable to me in my time so far at Gameloft has been the people.

Not only have I been able to work with some fantastic people along the way, but I’ve made some great friends, the type who are more than just work friends. That’s something particularly valuable to me.

What advice do you have for people who want to work in gaming in a similar role?

There’s a variety of aspects to look at. Naturally, you need a good understanding of the platforms you’ll be operating on - both in terms of functionalities and in terms of your audiences.

Your Twitter community and your Instagram community, for example, aren’t the same and would respond differently to the same content. Learn the differences between those audiences and make the most of each platform.

One thing I also find important, perhaps more so from my experience as a community moderator, is being empathetic and trying to do the most you can for your community in direct interactions. Whether it’s helping them with technical issues or responding to and taking note of their feedback and ideas, interaction is valuable to growing and continuously improving those relationships.

We have multiple positions available in our studios around the world, and you can find all of them here. Stay tuned next week for another edition of Humans Behind the Game!
