This week, we'd like to introduce Raluca Grigorovici, our product marketing manager at Gameloft Cluj.
Raluca has been with us for 3 years now and originally started out as a game community manager, meaning whether it comes to managing communities or product marketing, she knows how to do it all.
Find out more about her and some of her favorite things about her job below!
Hi, Raluca! Tell us about yourself.
I've been a covert gamer since I was little. I say covert because I thought a “true” gamer was someone who played online multiplayer games, and I didn't all that much.
Serious Sam, Blood Rayne, Tomb Raider, Grand Theft Auto, and The Sims are the most notable games from my childhood. I actually took my first steps while my dad and sister were playing a game—or so I've been told. I was probably trying to play too!
I joined Gameloft almost three years ago as a game community manager and was in touch with lots of gamers from all over the world. But I became a product marketing manager earlier this year to challenge myself and to continue learning.
Working at Gameloft has allowed me to rediscover my love for video games and has led me to meet some great people.
All my colleagues know that I have a sweet tooth and that I counteract my chocolate cravings by going to the gym. I'm also a wiz when it comes to TV shows and a softie for animals. I dislike răcituri (aspic), do everything in my power to mitigate conflicts, and am terrified of spiders.
What do you enjoy most about being a product marketing manager?
The challenge! I love learning new things and growing professionally.
I enjoy a field where you can't stop accumulating new information, as the domain itself evolves, expands, and changes. I also like working on app store optimization, user acquisition, and doing tests to draw insightful learnings from each of them.
There's never a dull moment, and I'm grateful for having amazing mentors and helpful colleagues surrounding me.
What are some of your most memorable moments at Gameloft?
There are so many to choose from! The time when I was one of the hosts for a handful of Romanian influencers—an experience that I hold dear, as I met wonderful people and made a close friend that I still keep in touch with today!
We geared up as medieval knights, “fought”, and ate traditional mushroom stew made in a cauldron.
You never forget your first time speaking on camera either, and for me, it happened a few years ago when I was a community manager for Iron Blade.
Together with Stefan Popovici, Game Designer, we recorded our first “Ask The Devs” video in which we answered the players’ questions and suggestions. It was exciting and terrifying at the same time, but it turned out alright!
I'm also proud to be part of the diverse team that is behind Asphalt 9: Legends. We celebrated the Asphalt franchise turning 15 years old by recording a song while practicing social distancing.
I saw a chance to make my cats famous, and I took it! Joke aside, working for Asphalt 9: Legends on the Nintendo Switch is very exciting.
What does it take to be a product marketing manager?
It's important that you're willing to learn and committed to tracking your progress. Remember that there's no shame in failing—that’s where you learn the most!
We have multiple positions available as game community and product marketing managers in our studios around the world, and you can find all of them here. Stay tuned next week for another edition of Humans Behind the Game!
