Claudia Trujillo joined Gameloft Barcelona in 2020, bringing her passion for games and years of experience in ASO, marketing, and data analytics to help our games stand out in the app stores.
The gaming industry is always evolving, and this is also true for the stores, which means there’s never a boring day for Claudia!
Find out more about her and what she loves about working at Gameloft below!
Hi, Claudia! Tell us about yourself.
I am the ASO expert at Gameloft. I grew up playing video games and loving math—I would ace all the exams!
I remember long afternoons playing The Lost City of Atlantis and multiple versions of Age of Empires on PC and reaching a new level of gaming when I got my PlayStation. The Spyro saga was my absolute jam!
In 2010, I started working in marketing, and after a few years of doing paid campaigns, I moved to SEO. I already knew a bit of HTML—which is always good when you need to work on the net—but I got to learn more about algorithms.
A couple years ago, I started working in the ASO field, and I still enjoy learning about how algorithms work and keep evolving by learning from human behavior.
Joining Gameloft felt really natural. I love gaming, and with my background in marketing and knowledge of algorithms, it all came full circle.
What is your role, and what do you enjoy most about your job?
I create the ASO strategies for the company’s games. I analyze the competitors, markets, trends, and different features that make each game unique so I can highlight each of those elements in the stores (App Store, Google Play, Microsoft, Xbox, Amazon, Huawei, Nintendo, and many more).
What I enjoy most about my job is that I learn so much about many types of games and platforms. There are new challenges every day, and they push me to never stop searching and to keep learning.
The gaming sector and stores are always evolving, so my job is never monotonous and keeps me on my toes!
Fun fact: even though I work in a gaming company, playing video games is still my favorite thing to do when I need a break.
What are some of your most memorable moments at Gameloft?
To be honest, every day is really memorable at Gameloft! The amazing catalogue of games that I get to work with is really entertaining, and I love seeing the new ideas the game teams come up with and how I can help portray them in the stores to make the games more appealing.
Whether it’s the launch of a new game or an already existing title in a new store or on a new platform, there’s a lot of collaboration between teams and departments and always something new to experience and learn from.
What advice do you have for people, but especially women, who want to work in gaming in a similar role?
If you are passionate about gaming or if you want to work in a field that’s never boring, gaming is the place for you.
The stores always come up with new updates, advertising campaigns, features to boost your visibility, and more, so working in ASO for games is really entertaining.
I would recommend you to not limit yourself to any store, but keep learning about as many stores as you can.
There are many different types of jobs in the gaming industry, and ASO is just one of them! Check out our open positions around the world here, and stay tuned for another edition of Humans Behind the Game!
