As a junior game community manager for Asphalt 9: Legends, Claudia Pons is able to combine her passion for gaming, marketing, and communications into one job!
Claudia first joined Gameloft Barcelona in 2020 as an intern, which was a challenging but rewarding experience, and we recently welcomed her permanently to the Gameloft team.
Find out more about Claudia and some of the projects she’s been able to work on and participate in below!
Hi, Claudia! Tell us about yourself.
Hey everyone! I’m Claudia Pons, one of the newest members in Gameloft’s Marketing department for Asphalt 9: Legends.
I joined Gameloft’s Barcelona studio during the lockdown in 2020. It was an experience completely out of my comfort zone—I had to develop new skills and adapt to a new work environment—but it wasn’t negative at all.
Thanks to being part of the gaming industry, I’m able to combine my passions for gaming, marketing, and communications.
During my free time I love to watch TV series, anime, and create new cooking recipes! They don't always turn out well though.
What is your role, and what do you enjoy most about your job?
I’m the junior game community manager for Asphalt 9: Legends with my leader and senior game community manager, Julia Rozwens.
So far, I’ve been involved in Asphalt 9: Legends on the community and communications side of the game.
The part that I enjoy most about my job is to engage with players on Asphalt’s social media channels. We really have fun on Discord (not so much when bugs appear), and it’s so funny when players make memes about you.
Lately I took part in an internal game jam organized by Gameloft. I learned a lot about how to develop a video game from scratch, soaked up the knowledge of other international team members, and—the most important part—had a great time with them.
What are some of your most memorable moments at Gameloft?
Unfortunately, I haven’t had the opportunity to spend time in real life with the team due to the current situation. Even so, after our work hours we video call each other to exchange anecdotes from time to time.
My coworkers always tell me how much fun and how valuable the weekly marketing meetings at the office were. I’m waiting for things to change so that we can spend time together!
Professionally speaking, one of the best moments was when the team gave me the opportunity to coordinate and manage the in-game tool: the Asphalt 9: Legends inbox. I appreciate the trust placed in me to carry out this role. It was quite a challenge for me, but it was very thrilling to see something that I created in the game.
What advice do you have for people, but especially women, who want to work in gaming in a similar role?
If you are a woman, do not be afraid to join this industry. Show yourself and them that you are worth it.
The passion for video games comes from inside yourself. Regardless of who you are, fight for your dreams!
If you’ve ever dreamed of working in the gaming industry, take Claudia’s advice and send in that resume! We have tons of open positions in our studios around the world, and you can find all of them here. Stay tuned for another edition of Humans Behind the Game!
